Hastings' Catalina Aguirre
“When I was little, I was always the most athletic kid. I loved PE and was so good on the physical tests. It all started then.
“I was recruited in middle school to start running for an AAU club team (Visions Houston Track Club) and right then I knew this would be my future. This is a tough sport, but I’ve fallen in love with it.”
She’s training for a college scholarship and has the mindset to do so. She reached the UIL Regional Meet as a sophomore and just finished 10th at the AAU Nationals in Florida.
“I try to encourage myself while running. I hear my coach in my head always giving me instruction,” she laughed. “They push me.”

VYPE: What do you love to eat when you aren’t training?
AGUIRRE: "I love Raisin’ Canes. That is what I would love my NIL deal to be."
VYPE: What are you streaming?
AGUIRRE: "I’d have to say Dance Moms. I love the drama."
VYPE: What’s your all-time favorite movie?
AGUIRRE: "The Blind Side. I know, I’m really obsessed with sports. My parents played sports, my siblings played sports. I’ve just been around sport my entire life."
VYPE: What would be your dream car?
AGUIRRE: "That’s easy, a BMW."
VYPE: Who would be your celebrity dream date?
AGUIRRE: "Carl from Love Island. He’s so built and so nice, too."
VYPE: How do you get ready for a big race?
AGUIRRE: "I need my space. I just put my AirPods in, watch Tik Tok and constantly hydrate."
VYPE: What’s your dream college?
AGUIRRE: "I want to stay in Texas… maybe Texas Tech."
VYPE: What do you see yourself doing in the future?
AGUIRRE: "I want to do something in the medical field."
