No. 18 -- Deer Park Deer
2023: 18-13 (Finished 2nd in District 22-6A/Bi-District Finalist)
Deer Park returns to the diamond with a vengeance, after being eliminated in the opening round of the playoffs in a close matchup against Atascocita.
They’ve been known to run District 22-6A in recent memory, which should continue to be the case.
Coach Chris Rupp brings back the majority of last season’s well-rounded roster, which includes first-teamers Bennett Springer, Dylan Marbury, and Reed Mallett.
Tate Hooks and Tristan Patterson could also have breakout seasons.
It’s unlikely that the Deer face a similar result as last year’s postseason, given the determination they’ve shown in the past.

No. 19 -- Stratford Spartans
2023: 23-9 (Finished 2nd in District 17-6A/Bi-District Finalist)
Shortly after taking silver in the district, the Spartans experienced a gut-wrenching loss in an extra-innings matchup against Lamar during the Bi-District round.
Given their early exit from the playoffs a year ago, this Spring should be when Stratford turns things around.
Coach Spencer Richards enters his second year with the program after earning the 17-6A Coaching Staff of the Year award and will have the tools necessary to flip the script.
Texas State-commit Caden Baker will headline the lineup from the outfield spot, while second-teamers Thomas Cloud and Braxton Wakefield return to the fold as well.

No. 20 -- Dobie Longhorns
2023: 23-8 (District 22-6A Champions/Area Finalist)
Last season’s Dobie team featured one of the most proficient rosters the program has seen in years, evidenced by the acquisition of their first district title since 2014. Coach Miguel Torres and company will see to it that nothing changes this Spring.
The Longhorns boast an impressive bullpen that features the likes of first-teamer Aiden Sanchez and 22-6A Newcomer of the Year Cruz Torres.
Others to watch include all-district selections Arnulfo“Jr.” Orozco, Liam Vasquez, and Juelz Martinez.
Dobie is loaded with young talent and should be able to surpass last year’s mark with style.
