BREWING GREATNESS: Mag West’s Shannon Dworaczyk Serves More Than Just a Killer Set; Powered By LOVB

Magnolia West Sr. Setter Shannon Dworaczyk

“CAN I HELP YOU?”
If you’ve ever swung through 7 Brew Coffee in Magnolia, that cheery voice might’ve belonged to none other than Shannon Dworaczyk—the star setter for Magnolia West Volleyball, who serves both her community and her team with the same energy, smile, and consistency.
“Having a job has taught me so much, and honestly, it relates to volleyball,” said Dworaczyk. “At work, they preach having a positive attitude, always smiling, and being kind to customers. On the volleyball court, it’s the same. As a setter, you have to be composed, positive, and keep everyone going. You’ve got to make things happen.”
The senior isn’t just setting up her teammates for success—she’s doing the same at home. As the oldest of four siblings, Shannon is the “quarterback” of her household, guiding her younger sisters not just in life, but in volleyball, too.
“I love showing my younger siblings what it’s like to be a teenager and an athlete. My little sisters are really good players themselves and play for the same club I did. Watching them follow in my footsteps is so cool—like having two mini-me’s around all the time.”

At Magnolia West, Dworaczyk is more than just a leader—she’s the coach on the floor for head coach Kristin Lemoine, and a foundational piece of the culture.

“Coach Lemoine got here when I was a freshman. We’ve grown the program together and built the culture from the ground up,” she said. “We’ve learned each other’s personalities, and I love that she preaches hard work. We’re not always the biggest team, so we have to make every rep count.”
Hard work has paid off. Shannon is on track to become the all-time assist leader in Magnolia West history, and this fall, she’ll take her talents to the University of Houston.

“There’s so much thrown at you during recruiting, but Houston just felt right. It’s close to home, I love the coaches and players, and Coach David Rehr is such a great ‘setter coach.’ I know I’ll learn so much there.”
Off the court, she’s balancing life like a seasoned vet—watching Hunger Games, working her shifts, downing Sonic foot-longs, and keeping an eye on future opportunities.
“That’s why I work—so I can learn how to manage and make my own money. I’d love to take some NIL classes and maybe get a sponsor. I’m obsessed with TIY Hair Ties—I wear the mall the time.”
And as she gets ready to pass the baton to the next generation of Mustangs, she has some advice for underclassmen.
“You’re on the team for a reason—know your worth,” she said. “And remember, your teammates and your best friends might not always be the same, and that’s okay.”
From the coffee stand to the volleyball court, Shannon Dworaczyk is brewing something special—and she’s just getting started.
