ON THE PROWL: No. 8 La Marque determined to make program's fifth trip to B-Ball State Tourney
No. 8 -- LA MARQUE COUGARS
La Marque’s dominance last winter left little doubt about its standing among Texas 4A’s elite. The Cougars stormed through District 29-4A without a blemish and advanced five rounds deep into the postseason, marking the program’s fourth overall trip to the UIL State Tournament.
Though their 49-44 Semifinal loss to Wheatley ended the dream run, the 38-3 finish spoke volumes about a team built on discipline and intensity. With head coach Kevin Wilcox back at the wheel, expectations remain high as the Cougars aim to reset the standard yet again in 2026.
Senior shooting guard Je’Caryous Oliver — a TABC 4A All-Region selection and dual-sport standout — headlines the returning group, while fellow seniors Brendan Harris (TABC All-Region) and Joshua Minix provide another dimension of veteran presence and proven experience.
If last year’s success was any indication, La Marque’s window for contention is far from closing.
