Last season the Lady Dragons competed at a high level of play. This season, they're back on track to continue putting up big moments on the hardwood. VYPE DFW takes a look at the team!
With a 31-4 overall record (14-0 in district play), the Southlake Carroll Lady Dragons basketball squad had an impeccable season last year. Defeating plenty of high-quality opponents such as Flower Mound Marcus, Colleyville Heritage, Plano, Crowley, Keller, Prosper, Byron Nelson, V.R. Eaton, and more through their regular season schedule, the Lady Dragons were able to enter the playoffs nearly unscathed. In playoffs, the Dragons had a great run as they took out Euless Trinity, Eastwood, and North Crowley before eventually falling in a hard-fought battle against a tough Coppell team.
With strength in numbers returning to their roster this season, Southlake Carroll has incredible student-athlete leaders such as Milania Jordan, Ava Anderson, Kaitlyn Knaub, Taryn Barnes, Lexi Schneider, Cassie Chambers, and more. The team joined the season ready to dominate the court again-- opening their season with a five-game win streak over Highland Park, Lubbock-Cooper, Plano, Saginaw, and Crowley. After securing several non-district victories, the Dragons opened district play with three dominant victories over Timber Creek, Keller, and Keller Central.
Over the holiday break, the team sharpened their skill in tournament play where they posted a couple of victories and a few losses. Learning from every moment and able to showcase incredible resilience, this team can be expected to remain dominant as they return to district play on Friday, January 5th against V.R. Eaton. Looking for another strong playoff run, be sure you catch this squad in action before the regular season is over!
After a decent season last year, the Hurst L.D. Bell Lady Blue Raiders have picked up steam and are soaring through a nearly undefeated schedule so far this season. What can fans expect as the team continues on through district play? VYPE DFW takes a look at the squad:
Last season, the Blue Raiders posted an 18-16 overall record (7-7 in district play) and finished in the 5th in their district standings. While the team posted convincing victories over the likes of Levelland, Denison, Colleyville Heritage, and more, they were unable to secure a spot in post-season play. Without a playoff appearance, the team jumped right into the offseason ready to put in whatever it took to start their new season off on the right foot. That hard work has been put to the test as the team has climbed the ranks this season.
So far this season, L.D. Bell has only posted one loss-- a tough 45-39 battle against the Keller Lady Indians. Despite the loss, the team has been able to post even greater victories over incredible opponents such as Sanger, Frisco Wakeland, Sherman, Gunter, Mineral Wells, Ponder, Euless Trinity, and others throughout the non-district schedule.
Athletes like Katelyn Tietjen, Enyce Williams, Joyce Montcho, Jada Milton, Gracie Oma, Chanelle Davis, Jazz Williams, and others help lead the charge of the Blue Raiders' campaign this season. With four victories through their district schedule so far, the team has defeated Fort Worth Paschal, Euless Trinity, Chisholm Trail, and Crowley. Sitting in the second-place spot in their district standings-- just behind Fort Worth Boswell, a team they will face in just a few short days following a Friday night matchup against Weatherford on January 5th.
Looking toward the rest of their district schedule, the Blue Raiders are geared up and equipped with all of the tools necessary for a strong playoff run this season. Fans can expect this team to continue on their path of excellence as they make their mark this season. Be sure you check out these ladies as they take to the court for the rest of their regular season play!
After a quick appearance in the playoffs last season, the Allen Eagles are back in action and looking to take down anyone who comes in the way of their ability to reach their goals. VYPE DFW takes a look at the team:
Last season Allen posted a 28-8 overall record (13-1 in district play) and finished their regular season at the top of their district standings. Defeating the likes of V.R. Eaton, Katy Tompkins, Pearland, McKinney, Denton Guyer, Prosper, Prosper Rock Hill, Denton Braswell, and more, the team made swift efforts to enter the playoffs. Despite a first-round loss to Hebron, the team showcased talent and looked toward an offseason full of strengthening their skills as well as their bonds with each other on and off the court.
Beginning their season with a 17-4 record in non-district play, the Eagles have continued to play incredibly each time they step foot onto the hardwood. Defeating the likes of Manvel (66-50), Cypress Creek (91-52), Dawson (64-44), Hebron (67-64), Richardson (83-67), and more throughout non-district play, Allen has proven their ability to look beyond what others say and put their skills to work.
Led by Aric Walls, Trent Pane, Nnamdi Ubawike, Malachi Drake, Kaiden Myers, Samuel Laeky, Isaiah Dozier, Gabe Jones, Antoine Shannon, and others, the team has already began district play with two strong victories-- over McKinney Boyd (78-53) and McKinney (60-53). As the team prepares for Denton Guyer on Friday, fans can expect the Eagles to continue showcasing their talent and getting ahead of the competition. Be sure to catch them in action as they hunt for a deeper playoff run this season.
