No. 4 -- Lake Creek Lions
2023: 27-11 (Finished 2nd in District 21-5A/Region III Finalist)
The Lions reached the fifth round of the playoffs for the second-consecutive season in 2023, despite being one of the newest programs on this list.
That speaks volumes about the culture that coach Jeremy Schramm has established within Lake Creek Baseball.
It shouldn’t be a stretch to assume that audiences see a similar, if not better result this year.
Arkansas-commit Sam Lee, Parker Smith (Louisiana-Lafayette), Wyatt Davis (Houston Christian), Austin Wiederhold, and Leighton Scott all return for LCHS, which bodes well for Class 5A powerhouse.

No. 5 -- Milby Buffaloes
2023: 16-7-1 (Finished 3rd in District/Area Finalist)
Milby was one of the primary forces that emerged from Houston ISD into the playoffs last Spring.
With another year of experience under their belts, the Buffs will only improve as coach Carlos Morales enters his twentieth season with the program.
He’ll be bringing back almost all of last year’s starters, including first-team, all-district selections Leo Berrones, Eduardo Rivas, Fredy Romero, Alex Lopez, and Ethan Ramirez, just to name a few.
They’ll be contending with Waltrip and Galena Park for the district title, but a trip to the playoffs should be well within their grasp.

No. 6 -- Santa Fe Indians
2023: 19-15 (Finished 3rd in District/Bi-District Finalist)
Santa Fe took bronze a year ago, in a loaded district that featured the likes of Friendswood and La Porte, which is enough to assume that they’re perfectly capable of repeating that effort, if not improve upon it.
What separates the Indians from a significant portion of their district counterparts is the fact that they will be bringing back almost the entirety of their starting lineup in 2024.
Players such as Lucas Dunn, Braden Castle, Steven De Los Santos, and Jackson Higgins will be among the many weapons in coach Ronnie Wulf’s arsenal, as they pursue the coveted district championship and more.
