The top eleven teams in this week’s Power Rankings all won this past week, albeit some did so more convincingly than others. Lake Travis and Westlake cruised to easy wins to remain atop the Rankings while #3 Dripping Springs struggled to hold off an improved Bowie squad.
Next, 5A powers Anderson, Bastrop and Weiss posted convincing wins to hold their spots while Vandegrift bounced back nicely to climb back to #7. Georgetown slipped a spot as they barely escaped unranked Rouse but remain just ahead of Liberty Hill. McNeil climbed into the Top 10 with another impressive win over a ranked opponent in Vista Ridge.
Hutto held off Round Rock to remain on top of a tightly bunched District 25-6A. The Hippos lead off the second half of the Rankings populated largely by teams that suffered bruising losses. Three exceptions: #13 LBJ, who shut out New Tech; #15 Pflugerville, who moved up a spot after dispatching McCallum; and #16 East View, who climbed three spots after holding off #18 Cedar Park.
#3 Dripping Springs hosts top-ranked Lake Travis and #2 Westlake meets #14 Bowie as the 26-6A leaders finally begin their head-to-head matchups. Other big games between ranked teams include #8 Georgetown clashing with crosstown rival #16 East View in the “Battle of Georgetown” and #9 Liberty Hill hosting #15 Pflugerville.
Just four more weeks left in the regular season and our Power Rankings remain as clear as a frosted window.
