The Lake Travis Cavaliers trounced Westlake 31-10 to win the “Battle of the Lakes” and solidified their grip atop this week’s Power Rankings – and more importantly, District 26-6A. Dripping Springs blanked Del Valle which, combined with their 1-score loss to the Cavs last week, allowed the Tigers to leapfrog the Chaps heading into their matchup in two weeks.
Anderson, the top-ranked 5A team, and Bastrop routed their opponents to hold their positions in the Top 5.
Vandegrift outlasted Hippo to pull into a tie with the Hippos atop District 25-6A and climb a spot over idle Weiss. (And if you’ve now got the song Edelweiss from “The Sound of Music” stuck in your head, you’re welcome.) Georgetown and Liberty Hill cruised to easy wins to stay at #8 and #9 while Vista Ridge climbed back into the Top 10.
The bottom half of the Rankings remained largely frozen although Cedar Ridge’s scintillating – or crushing, depending on your loyalties – miraculous comeback over McNeil put the Raiders back on the charts along with Rouse.
There are a handful of Top 20 matchups this week, but none so consequential as Thursday (10/3) night’s collision between Vista Ridge and Hutto. Buckle up!
