RECRUIT SCOOP: Skyline's Alexander one of country's most coveted recruits

Matt Malatesta
Apr 07, 2020

Bear Alexander of Dallas Skyline

At 6-foot-4, 333-pounds, "Bear" Alexander is appropriately named.

"Everyone has been calling me 'Bear' since I was a kid," he said. "I've always been bigger than everyone else."

The big-man in the middle of the Dallas Skyline defense has become one of the nation's most coveted recruits for the Class of 2022.

Who doesn't need a Bear in the middle of their defense? Apparently no one, seeing that virtually every big-time program including LSU, Bama, Texas, Ohio State, OU, Michigan, USC and Texas A&M have thrown their hat into the Bear ring.

"I feel like I'm great with my hands, in the pass rush and on the run. I can track down the football and get up-field," he said. "What I'm really working on this summer is my bend, my flexibility and my get-off."

Going into his freshman year, Alexander received his first offer from Oklahoma State.

"Once you get that first offer, it makes you hungrier," he said. "It allows you to enjoy the process more because you know that colleges want you. It's fun because you can take your friends and family along for the recruiting ride."

Alexander is not letting much grass grow under his feet during the quarantine.

"I'm just keeping my body lean and taking care of my school work," he said. "I plan on graduating early and am already taking college courses."

In regards to his school of choice, Alexander is wide open.

"I'm looking for a family – a home away from home," he said. "I'm also looking for an adventure."

The scouting report on Bear is that his goal is to be in the league 10 years from now. His favorite player is Aaron Donald and he's watching All-American during the time off.

His scouting report on his opponents?

"I know they are thinking, 'this is going to be a long night going against his guy,'" he said. "It's not going to be fun."

Four quarters of wrestling a 'Bear' wouldn't be fun for anyone.
