Only two teams in our Top 10 dropped a match this past week. Both of those we 5-set matches; Liberty Hill falling at fellow-ranked Cedar Park and Weiss dropping a non-district match at Waco Midway. (Non-district matches are mostly meaningless scrimmages this late in the season.)
As a result, not much has changed this week. Wimberley did sneak back in front of Vandegrift, thanks in large part to a clutch road win at Davenport. While Cedar Park remained at #6 after sweeping the season series against Liberty Hill, Round Rock ticked up as the Lady Panthers slipped a spot.
Here’s a look at our Top 10 as of October 21st as we head into the next-to-last week of the regular season:
VYPE's Public School Volleyball Rankings
1. (1) Dripping Springs Tigers (6A) -- 41-2 (3-1 @ Westlake, swept Lake Travis)
2. (2) Austin High Maroons (6A) -- 39-5 (swept Lake Travis, swept Akins)
3. (3) Buda Johnson Jaguars (6A) – 35-6 (BYE, 3-1 @ Clemens)
4. (5) Wimberley Texans (4A) – 33-3 (swept Navarro, 3-1 @ Davenport)
5. (4) Vandegrift Vipers (6A) – 26-14 (swept Stony Point, vs. Manor N/A)
6. (6) Cedar Park Timberwolves (5A) – 26-15 (swept Hays, 3-2 v. Liberty Hill)
7. (8) Round Rock Dragons (6A) – 30-13 (3-1 @ Vista Ridge, swept Westwood)
8. (7) Liberty Hill Panthers (5A) – 35-7 (swept Leander, L 3-2 @ Cedar Park)
9. (9) Weiss Wolves (5A) – 35-9 (swept Hendrickson, L 3-2 @ Midway)
10. (10) Georgetown Eagles (5A) – 34-8 (swept Elgin, swept Hendrickson)
Following another series of contests this past week, there still hasn't been too much movement regarding who falls into the city's top-10.
While Cibolo Steele rested up on a bye week, Brennan, Pieper, and Alamo Heights kept cooking, with the latter-two remaining undefeated throughout this Fall.
The Harlan Hawks climbed the ladder after a one-sided victory over Stevens last Friday, bringing their record to 6-1 on the year, while Canyon re-enters the top-10 after a hard-fought win against East Central.
One of the more intriguing matchups taking place in Week 9 will be between the aforementioned Harlan and district counterpart Taft.
As we near the final moments of the 2024 regular season, it's still anyone's title to win. Look below to see how everyone is shaping up.

South Grand Prairie Warriors
Head Coach: Brion Raven
District 8-6A
South Grand Prairie advanced all the way to the final game of the 2024 season.
The Warriors defeated Summer Creek out of Houston to advance to the Class 6A Championship game. There, South Grand Prairie fell short to fellow Dallas-area team Duncanville.
The Warriors finished 33-4 and brings back District MVP and TABC All-State selection Taylor Barnes off that squad.
With so few familiar faces returning to the huddle, coach Brion Raven (179-39) says a major key to their success in 2025 is the new players to varsity adapting to the speed of the game.
