TRAIN HARD, RECOVER HARDER - Why rest and recovery are so important when training: Presented by Athlete Training + Health

Do you feel like you have hit a wall in your training? Maybe feeling sore for longer than usual and unable to get quality sleep? If so, you may be in need of recovery. With physical activity becoming a normal part of people's daily routine, it is easy to fall into the trap of adopting a philosophy of "all work, no rest."

At Athlete Training + Health, we know that recovery is just as important (if not more so) than the training program itself. This being due to the fact that the body rebuilds itself during moments of rest and recovery. This rest and recovery can be aggressive, such as complete rest from activity, or more moderate, such as light exercise and massage. Other key factors that should not be neglected are proper diet, hydration, and sleep.

Reinforcing the most effective rest and recovery modalities during a specific moment in the training regime is a key component of our Student ATHlete training programs. To learn more about the importance of adequate rest periods, the warning signs of overtraining and recovery steps you can take immediately, read this blog.
