REPPIN' THE 212: Roster parity anchors No. 9 Cy Woods

No. 9 -- Cypress Woods Wildcats (6A)

Deep postseason runs have started to feel routine at Cy Woods, but last spring’s push to the Region II Final hinted that the Wildcats may still have another level to reach. A 23-12-4 finish laid the groundwork, and with several impact pieces returning, the blueprint for another surge is already in place.

Head coach Phil Schwarz enters the season sitting on 296 career wins, placing a milestone within striking distance. His roster is built around versatility and two-way production, led by Angelina College commit Ross Sullivan. The standout right-hander delivered an 8–2 record with a 1.22 ERA, striking out 64 while issuing just 12 walks. Sullivan also contributed offensively, driving in 21 runs and earning first-team all-district honors.

That two-way identity extends throughout the lineup. Brandon Stoebner, another first-teamer, impacts the game as both a middle infielder and a reliable arm, hitting .345 with 13 stolen bases while posting a 1.99 ERA. Third baseman Aiden Haby adds steady run production and speed, while catchers Santiago Perozo and Lance Gronsky direct the defense behind the plate.

Cy Woods doesn’t lack talent or experience. The next step is turning both into another postseason statement.
