Friday Night Preview: Fort Worth Castleberry preps for Peaster football

Peaster is hosting week two of Texas High School Football this season and their guests are none other than the Fort Worth Castleberry Lions. As these two teams prepare to face off in a pairing both are hungry for the win on, VYPE DFW dives into the details:

Fort Worth Castleberry Lions (0-1)

Last season, Castleberry posted a disappointing 1-9 overall record (1-6 in district play) with their only victory being a 37-0 shut-out over Fort Worth Diamond Hill-Jarvis. This season, the Lions are looking to put the record behind them, regroup, and get busy showcasing the talent their fans know they have. Last week, the Lions hosted Mineral Wells in a 47-14 loss. Despite the loss, Castleberry was able to come away with major takeaways and lessons as they head into week two ready to secure their first victory of the season. Daniel Ortiz, Adrian Arenas, Martin Zapata, Corbett Brown, Cayden Perez, Demetrius Valadez, Carlos Salazar, Alex Veliz, Riley Bentley, and other Lion athletes are steadfast in their drive to succeed on Friday night in Peaster.

Peaster Greyhounds (0-1)

Finishing the season with a 3-7 record last year (2-4 in district play), the Peaster Greyhounds are looking to change their team's trajectory and put forth a better year. Beginning their season with a 49-9 loss against Tolar isn't exactly the way the Greyhounds wanted their week one to go, but the team was able to regroup and prepare for week two with the stamina and unwavering focus necessary to overcome challenges. Fans can look toward athletes like Brayden Gent, Ty Steedley, Lafe Bringman, Kentin Morrow, Jeremy Moffitt, Murt Stewart, Cole Kopenheger, Henry Cipher, Troy Berkins, Jayden Kipers, Wyatt Lacy, and more to make big plays against Castleberry on Friday.

What To Expect

Last season, Peaster posted a shut-out 44-0 victory over Castleberry and will look to do the same this season. The Greyhounds are going to lean into a fast offense with a defense prepared to slow down the Lions. The Lions are looking to shut down an aggressive Peaster offense that is ready for a victory. Fans can expect both of these teams to put forth their best effort on Friday night as both of them are looking to post their first victory of the 2023-24 season.

Kick-off is slated for 7:30 p.m. in Peaster, Texas.
