HORNS UP: Expectations escalate for No. 9 George Ranch, following 2025 Regional appearance
No. 9 -- GEORGE RANCH LONGHORNS
George Ranch proved to be a breath of fresh air in Houston-area hoops last season. The Longhorns not only went 23-13, but also snapped a four-year playoff drought—making their first postseason appearance since 2020 and advancing three rounds deep in the 6A-D2 bracket.
In the wake of the graduation of 20-6A Offensive MVP and TABC All-Region pick Cayden Munnilal (now at Schreiner University), the Longhorns may see some adjustments. Yet, coach Brian Henry will have no shortage of firepower to work with.
The arrivals of senior standouts Brody Thornton and Kason Scipio, transfers from Fort Bend Bush and Austin respectively, give the group an immediate boost. Thornton, a 6-foot-6 forward and former 21-6A Co-MVP, will draw Division I attention, while Scipio’s length and versatility make him a tough cover on both ends.
Returning juniors Jevon Walker (10 ppg, 4 rpg) and Elijah Rubin, along with senior forward Adeolu “DD” Ogunsanya (8 ppg, 5 rpg), round out a balanced roster built to sustain last year’s momentum — and perhaps push even deeper this time around.
