Despite weather delays pushing their game to the next morning, Prosper had no trouble finding its rhythm against Arlington, cruising to a 4-0 victory on Wednesday.
The win improved the Eagles to 19-4-1 on the season, adding to their résumé as the reigning 6A State Champions and District 6-6A titleholders. Ranked No. 9 in Texas by MaxPreps, they have continued to assert themselves as one of the top teams in the state.
While Prosper lost several key players from last year’s championship run – including State MVP Olivia Hess (Baylor), All-Tournament selections Brooklyn Miller (Samford), Beya Rosales (North Texas), Isabella Fregoso, and standout goalkeeper Maggie Manning (Houston) – Coach Matt Dickinson’s squad has seamlessly integrated a new wave of talent.
Leading the charge is senior forward Reagan Roberts (LA Tech-commit), who has been a focal point of the Eagles’ attack, scoring three of their six playoff goals.
She’s complemented by a deep and talented supporting cast, including Addi Gonzalez (So. MF), Izzy Wilson (Jr. F), Khloe Griffith (So. MF), Ellie Christiansen (Jr. MF), Addy Cox (So. MF), and Dani Fregoso (Fr. D).
Their opponent, Frenship (18-3), enters the Regional Semifinals with momentum after an explosive 7-0 win over Montwood and a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Dallas powerhouse Southlake Carroll.
The Tigers, ranked No. 19 in Texas, are eager to surpass last year’s four-round playoff run under Coach Lauren Denning.
Senior midfielder Zeta McDannels has been a game-changer for Frenship, scoring an impressive 26 goals this season.
She’s backed by key contributors Cameron Beecham (Sr. MF), Graham Peeples (Jr. MF), Lily Stone (So. F), and goalkeeper Bella Medrano (Sr.), who have helped fuel the Tigers’ strong postseason performance.
With a trip to the Regional Finals on the line, these two state contenders will clash on Friday at 7:00 PM at Shotwell Stadium in Abilene, TX.
