THE POWER RANKINGS: Westwood and Vandegrift displace 26-6A leaders atop Austin Boys rankings
12 Jan, 2026
How do you logically rank teams when stuff like this happens? Westlake upended previously top-ranked Bowie by 11 points – but then Lake Travis knocked off the Chaps in an overtime thriller. For now, the Cavs, Chaps and Bulldogs line up in that order – but all three now sit behind Westwood and Vandegrift, who play each other in a titanic 25-6A clash Tuesday night (1/13).
Ah, the joys of district play.
East View got the short end of the stick. With all of these 6A powers clustered together like plants under a sheet on a freezing night, the Patriots slipped outside the Top 5 despite pounding their sole opponent last week by 57 points. Cedar Park, one of the Pats' chief rivals for top 5A team, climbed a spot while Vista Ridge moved up two and Hendrickson also climbed into the Top 10.
Rouse reappears in our Rankings despite their close road loss at the Timberdome, as do Glenn and 4A Manor New Tech. The latter two had been inexplicably overlooked in previous Rankings, proving that not only are we not AI, but that sometimes we’re not even “I.”
Here’s where they stand with plenty of other critical games on the docket besides Vandegrift/Westwood.
