THE HIERARCHY: VYPE DFW 2025 Week 8 Football Rankings; Rockwall-Heath asserts itself with an instant classic
13 Oct, 2025
Rockwall-Heath Hawks
As district play intensifies heading into Week 8, the Dallas-Fort Worth football landscape continues to showcase a familiar blend of dominance and depth across all classifications.
Duncanville reaffirmed its championship pedigree with a decisive 48–28 victory over DeSoto in one of the state’s premier rivalries. In the same 11-6A mix, Waxahachie and Cedar Hill appear headed for a pivotal matchup after comfortable wins that kept both firmly in contention.
Denton Guyer continues to gain traction in 5-6A, quietly putting together an unbeaten district mark, while Lewisville and Prosper also remain unblemished and poised for deeper runs. North Crowley, too, continues to impress with its balance and explosiveness.
Perhaps the weekend’s most dramatic moment came in 10-6A, where Rockwall-Heath emerged from a 56–55 offensive showcase against North Forney — a game that featured fireworks from start to finish and ultimately handed the Falcons their first loss of the season. The Hawks’ resilience in that shootout reasserts their spot among the region’s top 6A contenders.
Among 5A programs, Aledo and South Oak Cliff once again appear a cut above, but Melissa has forced its way back into the Top-20 following a decisive victory over Lovejoy, extending its district win-streak to four.
Several key clashes now loom that could further reshape the regional structure heading into late October.

The Memorial Mustangs are getting interesting
The question around Houston high school football right now: Is CE King the next powerhouse in the region?
The now-No. 3 Panthers made a major statement last Thursday, taking down then-No. 2 Summer Creek in convincing fashion. With that win, CE King has positioned itself as the front-runner in what many consider the toughest district in the state—but a looming matchup with North Shore will ultimately reveal how high this program can climb.
Elsewhere in Class 6A, Memorial continues its cultural turnaround under Coach Brooks Haack, notching another impressive win—this time over a ranked Cy-Fair team. Cypress Ranch handed Waller a setback after the Bulldogs’ strong start, while Langham Creek pulled off a surprise victory over Cypress Springs to shake up the district standings.
In Class 5A, chaos ruled once again. Teams ranked five through ten in last week’s VYPE poll all took losses, scrambling the middle of the board. Rising amid the turmoil are the Madison Marlins, who make their debut in the Top 10 after a big weekend win.
As district play intensifies, the power structure across Houston football is shifting—and CE King might just be leading the charge.
