The path to a district championship won’t be easy for DeSoto (2-2), with the Eagles set to face Lancaster and Cedar Hill in the coming weeks. Still, opening the gauntlet by thwarting Burleson Centennial, 29-3, should give the defending state champs plenty of momentum heading into the stretch.
Southlake Carroll (2-2) remains firmly in the Top 10 after an impressive 35-17 win over Keller Central, handing the Chargers their first loss of the fall and signaling that the Dragons intend to flex their muscle well beyond November.
Guyer, Lewisville, and Lone Star will return from bye weeks and get back into action with crucial district matchups. Meanwhile, Argyle (3-1) climbs the rankings after lighting up the scoreboard against Highland Park, defeating the Scots, 70-37, on Friday night.
The runway is getting shorter, and the room for mistakes is narrowing with it.

As has been the case throughout the fall, head coach James Clancy’s offensive line kept the pocket clean for signal-caller Jace Hanks, who is enjoying a breakout campaign in 2026. Still just a junior, Hanks is averaging more than 200 passing yards per game with seven touchdowns and no interceptions. When he isn’t connecting with Cooper Karns, Israel Smith, and Tyson Freeman, Hanks can make plays with his legs, too, totaling 244 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
Speaking of the ground game, senior Eyan Johnson has flourished as the Hurricanes’ lead back, totaling nearly 450 all-purpose yards and seven combined touchdowns. He’s complemented by junior tailback Earl Oguinn Jr., who adds another explosive element as a pass-catcher.
Defensively, Cain has been opportunistic, consistently giving the offense enough of a cushion to close out contests. Senior defensive lineman Jaemin Gilstrap anchors the run-stopping unit up front alongside linebackers Jerod Spraberry and Gage Hansberger, while junior linemen Mir Ibragimov and Bryson Bucola generate pressure in the pocket.
There’s still plenty left to be decided for the 3-0 Hurricanes, with a particularly challenging October stretch featuring Klein Collins, Klein High, and Klein Oak. Even so, Klein Cain’s emphatic win over Tomball could signal that this squad is poised to reclaim the district title it last won in 2024.
