Polls are largely subjective, as much an art as a science, especially early in the season. So, we were pretty pleased to see that our first stab at a Top 10 this season held up pretty well.
Those Top 10 teams when a combined 13-5 – with two ranked teams playing each other -- in last week’s action. Yes, top-ranked Dripping Springs lost their only match of the week 3-2, but it was an apples-to-oranges matchup against a powerful private Cornerstone Christian team. Austin High swept Buda Johnson to leapfrog the Lady Jaguars while Westlake moved up a couple of spots and has key matchups this week against the Maroons and (barely) unranked Lake Travis. Cedar Ridge is on the bubble after a tough week.
Here’s a look at our Top 10 as of September 16th:
VYPE Austin Top 10 Combined Class 4A-6A

Westlake lost a regular season football game for the first time since 2019 on Friday night to an undefeated and fellow state-ranked Atascocita squad. Doesn’t matter. They’ve won enough over the years to earn a mulligan and aren’t dropping from the top spot unless/until they get beat again.
Things are bunching up behind the Chaps with wins by each of the next nine teams in our Top 10. Stony Point rockets into the charts at #11 after giving Vandegrift a tussle, while East View (#14) and McCallum (#18) also crack our Top 20.
Here’s the rundown heading into Week 4.
