St. John’s Mavericks
2022: 20-10 (SPC Runner-Up)
Coach: Isis Amao
In SPC, it has been the battle between Episcopal and St. John’s over the past decade for the top spot. St. John’s is looking to make a return to the top of the podium for the first time since 2016 after finishing as runner-up in 2022. Princeton-commit Sonia Zhang will lead the pack after hitting .697 at the plate a year ago and posting a 2.85 ERA in the circle for the Mavericks. Zhang was the 2022 St. John’s Athlete of the Year. Amira Stocks will also be a team captain this year along with Zhang after hitting .400 last year and will leadoff the lineup for Amao. Other names to remember include Lillian Pate, Avery Peakes (.477, 3-sport athlete, 2022 St. John’s Freshman Athlete of the Year) and Warner Stahlbaum (2022 Newcomer of the Year).
