Football fans have been looking forward to draft night for several months and for Arkansas football fans it is an encouraging sight to behold. Arkansas has a chance for several former Razorbacks to be drafted during this weekend. We as football fans have a reason to be optimistic with the draft going on tonight and for the upcoming season. We are going to examine a few of those reasons, and I will give a few predictions on what to look forward to as the Sam Pittman era begins at Arkansas.
The 2020 NFL Draft witnessed several Razorbacks hearing their names called during the three-day period. McTelvin Agim is a former Razorback that had the opportunity to see his draft stock improve tremendously over the past few months. Agim went from a 2-10 Razorbacks team to the fourth round of the draft. Agim is a product of Hope High School in Arkansas and gives the people that follow recruiting and high school sports in Arkansas a reason to proud. The Denver Broncos will be a good landing spot for Agim, the Broncos managed to add quite a few weapons and the future appears to be bright in the Mile-High City.
The second Razorback that got drafted was defensive back Kamren Curl was selected in the seventh round by the Washington Redskins. Arkansas used to be famous for producing excellent defensive backs like Steve Atwater, Ken Hamlin, and Kenoy Kennedy. Times have changed though and having a defensive back drafted is an encouraging sign for Razorback fans, as well as Redskin fans. Washington fans will like how Curl can play multiple positions and it is not afraid to make a tackle.
The final prospect from the state of Arkansas to hear his name called over the draft weekend was K.J. Hill. Hill played his high school football at North Little Rock High School and was on several excellent Ohio State teams. The Los Angeles Chargers drafted Hill in the seventh round, and he will give the Chargers a receiving threat that has good hands and a crisp route runner. Hill has a good chance to make the roster and will be working with a team that is rebuilding and on the rise.
The state of Arkansas has always been able to produce a fair amount of talent and this draft has shown good players will come from Arkansas, people just must find them. As the Sam Pittman era begins at Arkansas, it will be vital to recruit Arkansas. Patience will need to be given concerning the football team, they have talent, but it will take time to win some games. Recruiting and developing the talent in the central and western part of Arkansas will be big in fixing the problem at Arkansas. Good things can happen, we just need to be patient.
