MCKINNEY ISD - Crosstown rivals McKinney Boyd and McKinney High squared up Friday at MISD Stadium in an old fashioned standoff. The stakes were high - the winning team would advance to the playoffs. The atmosphere was electric with fans across MISD filling the immaculate stadium and VYPE had the honor of being part of it.
The energy in the stadium was intoxicating and the rivals did not disappoint with their performances on the defensive side of the football. The low scoring endeavor made for a rivalry game that was not decided until the final minutes of the game and left all fans on the edge of their seat. The game was ultimately decided by a single 24 yard field goal and a game-clinching interception by junior safety Adrian Shepherd. With a 10-7 final score, McKinney High celebrated a well fought win Friday night.
McKinney High not only walked away with a W after a hard fought game but punched their ticket to the UIL playoffs. The stars align for the Lions to be able to fight for their first playoff win in over 20 years this coming Friday. McKinney High will face Garland Naaman Forest at Homer B. Johnson Stadium, Friday at 7pm.
VYPE Media had the honor of capturing the action and met with Coach Marcus Shavers, along with some key players after the game.
