Several young men from the Memorial-area, playing select summer lacrosse together since they were boys, recently signed to play in college.
Benjamin Bradshaw (Memorial) and CC Jeffers (Kinkaid) signed to Colorado College; Luke Chapman (Memorial) will play at MIT; Everett Easterby (Kinkaid) signed to Middlebury; Payton Herleth (Kinkaid) heads to Sewanee and Sean Kennedy (Memorial) will play at Roanoke College.
The boys became fast friends while playing together with a select 3d Texas club lacrosse team out of Dallas. Their coaches encouraged them to aim high academically, get out of their comfort zone and train hard year-round to be recruited by some of the top academic schools in the country.
So, they did just that. Every summer, they trained, studied, traveled, interviewed and visited top colleges outside of Texas.
"We have been deeply honored to coach these young men and to participate in their growth as lacrosse players and as individuals," 3d Texas coaches Kiernan Limming and Dalton Jernigan said. "Each of these young men have demonstrated a strong work ethic and immense dedication to accomplishing their goals both on the field and in the classroom. It is always a big win for the sport of lacrosse in Houston, and across the state of Texas, when young men are able to use lacrosse as a tool to further their education."
