THROUGH THE LENS: Klein crushes Collins in photos; plus Highlander coach reacts

VYPE's No. 1 team Klein cruised to a three set win over district-mate Klein Collins Tuesday night to remain undefeated in District 15-6A play.

No. 2 The Woodlands crushed Conroe in three sets as well.

Could a collision-course be brewing for the district title and a possible Regional Tournament rematch between Houston's top squads.

VYPE's Matt Malatesta caught up with Highlander coach Terri Wade and talked about last Friday's match.

"The atmosphere was pretty intense and we haven't played in that type of environment like that this year," Wade said. "I don't know if that is exactly what got us out of our game, but it was a big factor. They have a good home crowd with stand leaders. It was junior high night and it was packed and intense.

"They have really good ball control as a team," she said. "It's hard to put anything down on them. Their hitters aren't really big but they take smart shots.

"Klein is really skilled and we were looking forward to the competition -- a team that can match us and challenge us in district. We just weren't meshing that night.

"The loss could be a good thing. Of course, I want to win district. I don't want to be tied. It just showed our team that you have to go out and play your game every night, regardless of the competition level. You can't take anything for granted."

The REMATCH?

October 15th at The Woodlands, where it can also get spirited. Stay tuned.
