McKinney ISD Basketball Check-In

District basketball is in full swing for both boys and girls basketball across the state of Texas - some programs have played their fair share already while others are just getting underway.

Either way, about a month of regular season basketball remains before the playoffs begin.

Checking in with the McKinney ISD boys and girls basketball teams, here are where each team stands and what's coming down the pike for all six teams.


McKinney Boys and Girls Teams


BOYS: Currently sit at 15-8 with a 3-0 district record. The boys team is riding a 3-game win streak - all in district - having taken down three Plano teams by an average win margin of 7.33 points. With 11 games left on the calendar, McKinney sits in a three-way tie for the 9-6A district lead.

Game this week: at Jesuit (1/14); at McKinney Boyd (1/17)

GIRLS: Currently own a 13-9 record with a 4-2 district mark after winning its last last two over Plano West and Plano East. Only eight games remain and the girls team sits in third place, according to MaxPreps.

McKinney Boyd Boys and Girls Teams


BOYS: Own a 13-8 record and are 1-2 in 9-6A play. The boys were rolling, having won 5 of its last 6 games, before dropping both games last week. Eleven games remain for the boys team as it sits in a three-way tie for fourth along with Plano East and Plano, according to MaxPreps.

Games this week: vs. Plano (1/14); vs. McKinney (1/17)

GIRLS: Currently 8-15 with an 0-4 district record. It's been tough sledding for the girls lately, having lost its last six games, including the first four district contests. Before that, though, the girls team had won 4-of-6 games to get within a game of .500.

McKinney North Boys and Girls Teams


BOYS: Enter district play with a 13-9 record having most recently dropped a tough decision to the states No. 3-ranked 5A team. Before that, though, the boys had won five of its previous six by an average of 16.4 points.

Games this week: vs. Wylie East (1/17)

GIRLS: Sit at 12-7 after suffering a district-opening loss to Denison. Prior to opening district play, the girls won four of its last five and were 8-3 from November 22-December 28.
