PREVIEW: Alamo Heights travels to Mccollum for a showdown of the undefeated

Alamo Heights is known for being a dominant force in the South Texas area. McCollum is continuing to build up an excellent program. Both teams gear up to go head-to-head in a district pairing on Friday night. VYPE takes a look at how their seasons have gone so far ahead of their matchup:

Alamo Heights Mules (3-0)

The Alamo Heights Mules are off to an impeccable start already in the 2023 season. With a 51-48 victory over Seguin, a 81-0 victory over San Antonio Breckenridge, and a 65-7 victory over San Antonio Highlands last week, the Mules have outscored their opponents by a combined 197-55 this season. Remaining a dominant force in Texas High School Football, Alamo Heights looks to continue their hot streak on Friday night as they travel to face McCollum.

Michael Terry, Oliver Duffin, Cullen Runnels, Henry Brewton, Ricky Gonzalez, Jackson Hildebrand, Grant McAllister, Kingston Kennan, and others continue to make big moments happen on the field for the Mules. With the ability to make their mark right out of the gate, this team easily takes down their opponents without looking back.

McCollum Cowboys (3-0)

McCollum has had an incredible start this season. In week one, the team defeated Southside San Antonio by a 28-9 score before posting a week two victory against San Antonio Highlands (53-26). In dominant fashion, McCollum took down San Antonio Edison last week with a 62-15 score. As they prepare to host their first home game of the season, the Cowboys can be expected to be fired up with their 3-0 start.

Continuing district play, Luke Landa, Javier Martinez, Brandon Barrientos, Jesus Molina, Justin Rodriguez, Gabriel Escobar, Andrew Luevano, John Salais, Rocco Garza, Seth Hernandez, and others can be expected to battle with the intention of keeping their season strong on Friday night against Alamo Heights.

What To Expect

A head-to-head battle can be expected from both teams. While Alamo Heights is able to easily pick up on their opponents' style of play, McCollum just might have quite a few tricks up their sleeve this year. Last season, Alamo Heights posted a dominating 56-7 victory over McCollum. This season, McCollum is bringing the fight and ready to showcase their ability to go up against some of the strongest teams in the area. Fans can expect this pairing to not be disappointing.
