Eaton Eagle volleyball gears up for state

Last season, the Eaton Lady Eagles finished in the third place spot in their district with a 9-5 district record. Heading into playoffs, the team showed their strengths against five strong competitors (Chisholm Trail, El Paso Franklin, Southlake Carroll, Hebron, and Keller). The team eventually fell to Keller deep in playoffs, but put up a strong fight. This season, the Lady Eagles have been poised, focused, and ready to get right back to where they were-- then further. Eaton has already secured a playoff spot, so let's take a look back at their regular season:

Regular Season Behind Them

This season, the Lady Eagles have posted another 9-5 district record (22-19 overall) to finish in the third-place slot again. The Lady Eagles opened the season with a huge non-district victory over Grapevine before entering a small slump. Before you knew it, though, the Lady Eagles were learning from every moment they spent on the court and bouncing back-- truly showing their resiliency. The team has posted big victories against the likes of Buda Hays, Birdville, Haltom, Keller Central, Keller, and more. Eaton closed out district play with a tough fight against school district rival Byron Nelson.

What's Ahead

Playoffs brings a clean slate for the athletes who secure their spot. That means, all teams are essentially 0-0 again for all intents and purposes. V.R. Eaton is no stranger to being in the playoffs-- moreover, they are no stranger to playing hard throughout playoffs. Fans can expect the team to come into playoffs with a clear mind and the determination that it takes to play strong week after week in order to grow as a program. Led by the likes of Kimaya Webb, Emily Simmons, Payton Sanderfer, Chloe Blanchard, Taylor Ashlock, Lorena Gomez, Brylee Bailey, and more, Eaton is going to head into playoffs ready to reclaim the energy of last season's deep playoff run. Expect big things from this squad.
