2025-26 Summer Creek Girls Basketball & Head Coach Kiara Marshall
No. 1 -- SUMMER CREEK BULLDOGS
Summer Creek etched their names into history last winter, erasing an 18-point deficit in the Class 6A-D1 State Championship to stun Cedar Hill, 52–49, and capture the school’s first-ever state title.
In her debut, head coach Kiara Marshall took the Texas basketball world by storm — leading a fearless, fast-paced team that refused to fold when the chips were down.
Now, with nearly every key piece returning, the Bulldogs have their sights set on something even bigger: a repeat.
It all starts with Kennedy Simpson (Tulane-signee), the reigning State MVP, who scored 21 points in the title game and continues to set the tone on both ends of the floor.

Supporting her is a deep and talented cast that includes Addison Martin (Jr. G), Erin Newsom (Jr. F), Kay’Len Alexander (Jr. F), and Ty’Asia Young (So. G) — all proven winners who know what it takes to climb the mountain.
“What I love about this program is that it’s about the work,” said Coach Marshall. “I know it sounds like coach-speak, but we just focus on ourselves and don’t pay attention to the noise. We’re just trying to get better every day — and our kids are bought into that.”
That no-nonsense approach might sound simple, but it’s the formula that built a champion —and could very well deliver them to a repeat.

2025-26 Hightower Girls Basketball
No. 2 -- HIGHTOWER HURRICANES
Entering her sixth season at the helm, head coach Jasmine Brewer has already cemented her impact at her alma mater. Brewer — who once led Hightower to the 2010 State Tournament as a player — guided the Hurricanes back to the UIL State Tourney in 2025, marking a full-circle moment in program history.
That run featured 23 straight wins and a return to the Class 6A-Division II Final at the Alamodome, where the Hurricanes ultimately finished as the runner-up to Fort Worth Boswell. Still, it was the fourth State appearance in program history and proof that Hightower has reestablished itself among Texas' elite.
Now comes the encore.
At the center of it all – literally– is 6-foot-4 junior Ogechi Okeke, a national recruit with offers from powerhouses like Cal, Oregon, Florida, and Oklahoma. Ranked No. 19 in the US by SportsCenter NEXT, Okeke averaged a double-double last season and earned All-Tournament honors for her dominance in the paint.

But Brewer’s group is far from one-dimensional.
Sydney Thomas (Sr. G) returns after an 11-point-per-game campaign and a TGCA All-Star nod, while veterans Onyinye Asomugha (Sr. PF), Samyra Blount (Sr. G), and Iowa Colony-transfer Eryn Roberts (Jr. PG) add depth and versatility.
After ending a six-year drought between State appearances, Hightower now chases what’s never been done before — back-to-back trips to the big stage.

The stars of 2025-26 Cypress Springs Girls Basketball & HC Taneisha Rogers
No. 3 -- CYPRESS SPRINGS PANTHERS
After a 30-win season and a run to the 6A-D2 Region II Final, Cypress Springs finds itself in reload mode — not rebuild.
The Panthers lost standout Ayla McDowell to South Carolina and Jemini Mitchell to Legion Prep Academy in Dallas, but the program’s standard under 12th-year head coach Taneisha Rogers remains the same: win and advance.
Only one starter returns from that deep playoff team, yet Cy Springs is far from starting over. Floor general Tamiah Harrison and sharpshooter Nevaeh Smith bring stability to the backcourt, while Madison Madkins, Milan Barnes, and Daija Barrow are primed to carve out larger roles as the Panthers chase a seventh straight postseason berth.
And then there’s Makenzie Jackson — a Class of 2029 phenom whose size, skill, and poise have already made her a name to know in Houston basketball circles. The future isn’t just bright; it’s already walking the halls at Cy Springs.
