FIELD REPORT: Final VYPE Dallas-Fort Worth Baseball Rankings — The Decisive Stretch Looms
Grapevine hasn’t skipped a beat since capturing the 5A Division 2 state title last spring, entering the postseason with a pristine 28-3 record. Aledo, the reigning 5A Division 1 champion, is right there with them, as a 28-4 campaign positions the Bearcats well for a repeat bid.
Keller (29-2-2) has quickly reasserted itself among the state’s elite and now sets its sights on pushing beyond the Regional rounds, while Waxahachie (30-2) appears poised to follow a similar path.
Lovejoy (23-4-1) rounds out the top tier of contenders in Class 5A, while Hebron (23-6-2), Jesuit (24-7-2), Guyer (25-8), Heath (23-8), and Allen (22-9) have clearly separated themselves within the 6A landscape.
The brackets beckon, so let's get right into the region's hierarchy.

FIELD REPORT: Final VYPE Houston Baseball Rankings as the Postseason Picture Takes Shape
Some of the stars of 2025-26 Cypress Woods Baseball
There’s little debate at this point: Tomball is the real deal. In the short term, the Cougars have navigated an arduous district slate, going unbeaten in 15-6A against formidable rivals like Magnolia West, Klein Oak, and Klein Collins. In the broader scope of the spring, THS boasts an astonishing 32-0-1 record, is regarded as one of the top teams in the nation, and appears on a fast track toward yet another State Tournament appearance.
Still, the postseason has a way of leveling the field—meaning no opponent will be taken lightly, a reality Tomball understands as well as anyone.
All things considered, Atascocita (28-4) and Cy Woods (29-2) aren’t far behind, boasting exceptionally balanced rosters, strong coaching staffs, and recent experience in what it takes to go the distance. The same holds true for defending 6A Division II champion Kingwood (22-8-1), a group defined more by resilience and resolve than sheer dominance.
Katy (27-2-1), Memorial (24-6), and Magnolia West (24-7) emerge as early favorites, while Strake Jesuit (25-5-1), Bridgeland (24-8-1), Oak Ridge (23-7), Cy Ranch (25-7-1), and Pearland (24-8-1) round out a deep field of challengers in Conference 6A.
In 5A, Kingwood Park (18-8-1) is on a mission to return to Dell Diamond, while Crosby (25-7-1), Friendswood (19-9), Baytown Sterling (21-10), and Barbers Hill (24-8) anchor an expansive field of contenders.

The Rouse Raiders closed out their final regular 5A season in style, crushing Lockhart twice and knocking off Lake Belton in a playoff tuneup to finish atop this year’s Baseball Power Rankings. And oh, for a showdown with 2nd-place Lake Travis, the District 26-6A champion. That won’t happen this year, but they could collide next year as 6A clubs.
Third place Georgetown should cross the 30-win threshold once playoffs begin this week, while #4 Dripping Springs shrugged off an upset at the hands of Westlake to win the rematch in a no-hitter, followed by a tune-up win against 7th-ranked Bowie. Anderson, meanwhile, twice dispatched a decent Navarro squad to go undefeated in district play, then knocked off yet another 6A power in Buda Johnson to round out this year’s Top 5.
Once and future district mates Johnson and Bowie closed out successful regular seasons at #6 and #7. Vandegrift cracked the Top 10 at #8 after sweeping Round Rock to separate themselves from the District 25-6A logjam and claim the first district title in program history. Speaking of 25-6A, #9 Westwood and #10 Vista Ridge split their regular season finale showdown to make the playoffs while Cedar Ridge swept Manor to finish #11.
Things got a little choppy at the bottom of the rankings behind the Raiders. Weiss swept Pflugerville Connally to advance two spots. Hays stayed put at #13 followed by Liberty Hill, who split with Cedar Park. Round Rock remained in our Rankings at #15 despite losing out in the 25-6A game of musical chairs.
With the exception of a handful of play-in and seeding games, the 2026 regular season is now in the books. Which means baseball’s third and most important season – the playoffs – is about to get underway!
