Southwest Preparatory Conference is unique because it hosts boys volleyball as a varsity high school sport. Austin St. Stephen's Episcopal School and Austin St. Andrew's Episcopal School are setting the pace for the Austin area, and are ready to compete for one of the tournament bids in 2019. Check out their outlooks for the upcoming season.
Austin St. Stephen's Episcopal School Spartans (Reached 2018 SPC Semifinal And Won Third-Place Game)
Austin St. Stephen's Episcopal School advanced to the 2018 SPC semifinal and won the ensuing third-place game, and has the necessary returning talent to take the next step towards a tournament championship in 2019. That's because the Spartans won the South Zone last season, and have first-team all-SPC players Ian Chamoun and Callahan Hefner still on their roster. Chamoun will lead the team as a returning junior, and Hefner will provide important assistance as a sophomore.
Austin St. Andrew's Episcopal School Highlanders (Missed 2018 SPC Tournament)
Austin St. Andrew's Episcopal School missed the SPC tournament by a single zone spot in its 2018 inaugural boys volleyball season, so it's motivated to grab its first tournament bid in 2019. The Highlanders will need big years from George Moore, Chelan Beavers, Sina Mohammadi and Charlie Welland to pick up important zone wins against Austin St. Stephen's Episcopal School, Bellaire Episcopal, Houston The Awty International School, Houston The Kinkaid School, and Houston St. John's School. Moore, Beavers and Mohammadi are back for their senior years, while Welland joins the upperclassmen ranks as a junior.
