Track season is approaching and the TWCP girls track team is gearing up for a great season filled with new records, competition, and memories with teammates. Meet some of the star members of the track team:
Bailey Cotten
Bailey is a senior pole vaulter who has committed to continue her track career at Sam Houston State University. She broke the school pole vault record in 2018 with 12 feet and hopes to break her own record this season along with making it to State. Although she will participate in track in college, Bailey said she will miss the team and all of the memories they have made together at track meets.
Ashlee Diamond
This is Ashlee's 3rd year on the CP varsity team and she is looking forward to competing in the 100 M Hurdles, 4x100 M relay, 4x200 M relay, and High Jump this season. Her goal this season is to make it to Regionals and to break the 4x200 M relay record with her teammates.
Madeline Orr
Madeline is a senior distance runner who has competed in the 3200M, 1600M, and 800M races throughout her 4 years on CP Varsity Track. She currently holds the record for 800M at College Park and broke the record during the 2019 season. Madeline has committed to run at Texas A&M University next year and is looking forward to making memories with her teammates for the last time this season.
Mackenzie Weathers
Mackenzie Weathers is a senior sprinter who participates in the 100 M Dash, 200 M Dash, 4x100 M relay, and 4x200 M relay. She has been active in the track program since 7th grade and on the varsity team for 4 years. This season Mackenzie hopes to break the 4x100 M relay record with her teammates.
Journi Williams
This track season, Journi is hoping to beat the 100 M and 200 M Dash school records she set in 2019. Along with those races, she also competes in the 400 M race, 4x200 relay, and 4x400 M relay. Last track season, Journi also came in 3rd at Regionals and is looking to make it to State this year.
