WACO - When it was all said and done Second Baptist School just completed a special season.
The Eagles finished the year 13-3 overall and as the TAPPS Division II State Runner-Ups. Second Baptist School fell short on Saturday in the state title game to Dallas Christian.
VYPE was on hand for the game and some special moments after.
In what was an exciting game from start to finish, Denton Guyer posted their second victory over Prosper this season- this time the victory decided the fate of who would advance to the State Semifinals and who would see their 2021 UIL football season come to an end. VYPE DFW was there to capture all the action as the Eagles and Wildcats went head-to-head.
Posting an early lead over the Wildcats, Prosper showed an incredibly strong front throughout the first half of the game. With the defense doing everything to get their job done, the offense made sure to put up their own fight and post big scores. Prosper's defense was able to hold Denton Guyer's offense to only a field-goal in the entire first half while the Eagles offense put up two touchdowns- one in the first quarter and one in the second.
Coming into the second half, though, Guyer seemed to regroup and show up on the field as the team that the metroplex has seen all season and expected to see in the game. The Wildcats scored twice in the third quarter while holding the Eagles scoreless until the fourth quarter. The fourth quarter saw Prosper record a touchdown and follow up with an extremely strong two-point conversion, but Guyer was able to score two more times to close out the game.
The win allows Denton Guyer to advance to the State Semifinals where they will face-off against Tomball.
Continuing their season of dominance, Southlake Carroll has extended their season record to 14-0 overall with an incredible victory over Allen on Saturday at Apogee Stadium- home of the North Texas Mean Green! VYPE DFW was there to catch all the action on Saturday!
Although the Allen Eagles were able to jump out to a very quick and exciting 7-0 lead after scoring in the first 13 seconds of the game, it didn't take long for Kaden Anderson and the rest of the Southlake Carroll Dragons to find their groove and take their destiny into their own hands. The Dragons scored four unanswered touchdowns- one of which was a pick six as Avyonne Jones nabbed a pass and ran it back 30 yards for a score- before Allen would put up anymore points on the board as time ticked down into halftime.
The third quarter saw extremely strong defensive plays from both teams resulting in no scores through the quarter. Allen was able to score one more touchdown in the fourth quarter, but the Eagles just didn't have the same level of energy that Southlake Carroll brought to the game. The win for Southlake Carroll sends them to the State Semifinals matchup in a rematch against Duncanville.
