Karnell James takes over St. Thomas High School's basketball program. James has been an assistant for the Eagles and will now put his own stamp on the inner loop school's hoop program.
James sat down with VYPE Chief Content Officer Matt Malatesta about his basketball journey and where the Eagles' program is heading.
Making it to the final race day of 2020 as a team of seven is quite spectacular, especially during a year like this one. Just to be able to compete in the State race as a team is its own accomplishment and to be commended. Every spot matters when scoring for a Cross Country, and some remembered that today and gave it their all!

1st: Lewisville Flower Mound- 75 Points
2nd: Southlake Carroll- 96 points
3rd: The Woodlands- 108 points

The morning started out cold, wet, and eventually very windy, but that is not how the day ended! the 2A and 4A divisions were met with drizzle and brutal winds, while only a short time later, the 6A divisions got the blistering sun and a nearly 80 degree temperature. Neither are considered "perfect" conditions to run in, but that's what it takes to be the best- you have to be able to compete no matter what the circumstances are.
The UIL State Cross Country season came to end today, with 2A, 4A and 6A all competing one last time for the 2020 year. The results were exciting, and the competition was fierce. Vype Media was there to get all the great action!
So, who stole the headlines of the week?
The Pearland Dawson Eagles showed that they are real. The Eagles beat the Class 5A defending state champs Shadow Creek in OT to secure District 23-6A tile.
Dawson looks like a tough out in the postseason.
The Top 10 teams remained the same. Tomball Memorial got a big scare from Klein Collins on Thursday night and FB Travis was bounced from the Top 20 after falling to Ridge Point, who moves in.
