Each week we take a look at a team from across the Austin/San Antonio area/surrounding areas that impressed us for one reason or another.
It's only Week 2 of our Austin/San Antonio Team of the Week segment and we are already doing a little bit of a swerve. This week's team of the week we are actually giving it to an ISD. Boerne ISD gets the nod this week, and how could we not.
Heading into the State Soccer Tournament, Boerne has 3 of their 4 squads vying for the title: Boerne Boys Soccer, Boerne Girls Soccer and Boerne Champion Girls Soccer.

The Boerne Lady Greyhounds got their revenge over Calallen after last years defeat in the regional semi finals and will now look to add state champion to their resume.

They did it by beating a Calallen team that came in with an 18 match winning streak (outscoring opponents 205-1 during that span).
The Lady Chargers may have had the most impressive win of the bunch, defeating defending state champion and undefeated district rival Dripping Springs. Dripping Springs looked like it was going to continue to roll early, grabbing a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute, but Champion would equalize in the 55th minute. The score would remain 1-1 through overtime where Champion would prevail via PKs. The Lady Chargers are back for the first time since 2017 and hope their victory over Dripping Springs will be the spark needed to claim the state title.

For the Boerne Greyhounds it was business as usual in their 6-2 victory over Taylor. The Greyhounds are 2 games away from not only repeating as state champions, but also becoming the first San Antonio area team to do so.

Boerne Girls take on Celina in the semifinals Wednesday at 11AM
Boerne Boys take on Stafford in the semifinals Wednesday at 4PM
Boerne Champion takes on Grapevine in the semifinals Thursday at 12PM
