The Northwest Texan soccer program has been going full speed from the moment they stepped onto the field for practice this season. Currently sitting in the first place spot in their district, the Texans aren't willing to slow down for anyone. The team has been on fire this season and looks to continue to make an impact through the rest of their district schedule. So, what can fans expect from the rest of this season? VYPE DFW lays it all out for you!
Last season, the Texans finished fourth in their district with a 7-6 district record (11-10-2 overall). Northwest was able to make a quick playoffs appearance, but ultimately fell in a hard-fought 4-2 match against Wichita Falls. The team showed great strength as they shut out six of their opponent last season including Denton Ryan (3-0), Denton (3-0), Lake Dallas (1-0), and more. The Texans outscored their opponents 36-30 on the season before finishing in the playoffs.
So far this season, the Texans have been on a roll. With an undefeated district record so far (3-0-1), the Texans are sitting in the first place spot in their district standings. After fighting through their non-district schedule, the Texans used everything they learned to make a district campaign go their way. Through non-district play, the team faced adversity and played against pretty strong teams in the area- sharpening their skills and preparing them for their district opponents. Defeating Burleson, Lancaster, and Lake Dallas in preseason matchups, Northwest made it known that they came to play hard this season.
So far in district play, the team has defeated Aledo (3-1), Azle (3-0), and Fort Worth Brewer (3-1) while pulling a 0-0 draw against Saginaw in the district opener. On a three game win-streak, the Texans are looking to continue district play Tuesday, February 7 against a 1-9-5 Granbury team.
Northwest can be expected to continue their dominant style of play through district. The team is looking down a long list of people they have been known to play tough against already. With only four games left until playoffs, the Texans are looking to make a case that they're one of the strongest teams in the area.
Be sure you catch the team in action! Their game against Granbury on Tuesday evening will be in front of a home crowd and is set to begin at 7 p.m.
FB Marshall Basketball is a Top 5 program in Houston
The Spartans of Seven Lakes are the city's top Class 6A team, while FB Marshall leads the 5As. How about Booker T. Washington becoming HISD's top squad? The surprise of the year is unanimous... the Furr Brahmas.

VYPE's PUBLIC SCHOOL TOP 20
Welcome to our feature - the Klein ISD Athletes of the Month - highlighting some of the best student-athletes in one of the most proud districts in the state of Texas. One girl and one boy will be selected each month representing the independent school district.
Khloe Vaughn is having an all-district season, leading the Panthers in scoring with 12 points per game. She is also a beast on defense on the front end of Klein Oak’s defense. The Panthers are on the edge of playoff contention, so Vaughn will need to keep up the pressure on both sides of the ball.
As the sound of cleats grind against the concrete and the smell of freshly-cut grass is in the air, it’s time to play ball. Klein Collins' Colton Griffin is a star on the football field, but his future is baseball. The senior recently signed his National Letter of Intent to Stephen F. Austin to play baseball. He’s lethal from the left side of the plate.
