Check out the interview below!
2022-23 Pearland High School Baseball
2022: 32-9-1 (District 23-6A Champions/Regional Semifinalist)
HC: David Rogers
Pearland enjoyed another stellar season in 2022 under District Coach of the Year winner David Rogers (4th year-92 career wins), finishing first overall in District 23-6A en route to a deep playoff run in which they reached the Regional Semifinals.
This year should be no different, considering this year’s roster will feature many of the same starters. Returning senior stars include reigning District MVP and lefty Caden Ferraro (Texas A&M-signee) and Newcomer of the Year Braeden Morse at third base.
First-teamers LF Brett Smajstrla (SHSU) and first-baseman Justin Ogle are back in the dugout along with second-teamer Anthony Avalos (Houston) at shortstop.
The core hopes to compete for the school’s first State Title since 1980.
2022-23 Lake Creek High School Softball
2022: 41-0 (Class 5A State Champions-1st in School History)
HC: Michelle Rochinski
Lake Creek put together the perfect season in 2022.
The Lions won the program’s first-ever State Title and Ava Brown was named the Gatorade Texas Player of the Year. She signed with Florida after registering an immaculate 0.46 ERA and 335 strikeouts last season.
It was a busy signing day in November as seven Lions signed to play college softball. Along with Brown, Maddie McKee (LSU), Kalee Rochinski (UTSA), Shelby Winn (University of Central Arkansas), Madison Johnson (Angelina College), Payton Bauer (LeTourneau University), and Jolie Bozan (Tyler JC) also signed.
This team is completely loaded for a run back to Austin and a second-straight State Championship. The Lions are ready to roar again.
By the way, they went 41 and 0 last year.
