4A Region 4
Taylor(14-5-2) vs Hidalgo (6-3-2), Friday 2PM////Boerne (23-2-1) vs Progreso (5-1-1), Friday 4PM Boerne, on paper, appears to be the favorite here. The defending State Champions have been dominant all season and look to go back-to-back this year. However Taylor could be the darkhorse of the bunch, They are no stranger to the regional semi finals, but they'll need to get revenge over Hidalgo after last year's defeat in this same match
5A Region 4
Georgetown (17-3-7) vs Porter (21-2-2), Friday 12PM////Dripping Springs (23-3) vs Sharyland (21-6-2), Friday 2PM
Dripping Springs is looking to do what their women's squad did last season and win it all. However to do so they will have to get past a strong Sharyland squad to start the weekend. Then if they manage to do that? Porter or Georgetown will await, with Porter ending their run last season. Depending on the outcome of that game, Dripping Springs will not want to be looking ahead if they hope to reach the Regional Final game Saturday.
6A Region 4
Reagan (19-3-3) vs Alexander (15-10-2), Friday 5PM////Lake Travis (20-3) vs SA Harlan (23-2), Friday 7PM
Last season Lake Travis was able to get past Harlan before losing to eventual champions Lee in the Regional Finals. Can lightning strike twice? Harlan will be out for revenge and have been on a tear so far to start the playoffs. On the other end Alexander finds themself back in the Regional Semis where they will face a tough Reagan squad. But will Alexander be able to get at least one round further this season?
4A Region 4
Boerne (18-3-5) vs Santa Gertrudis Academy (8-2-1), Friday 10AM////Wimberley (20-2-4) vs Calallen (20-4), Friday 12PM
Boerne is looking to do what their men's team did last season, win it all. To do that they'll first need to get past Santa Gertrudis. Awaiting them if they manage that? Well that one is really a coin flip. They will either face a Wimberley team they went 1-0-1 against this season or a Calallen squad that is on a 17 game undefeated streak in which their closest game was a 4-0 decision. On paper Calallen is easily the team to beat of the 4 and have looked impressive these last few months.
5A Region 4
Boerne Champion (17-3-4) vs McAllen (20-7-2), Friday 4:30PM////Dripping Springs (24-0) vs Gregory Portland (19-4-1), Friday 6:30PM
Dripping Springs comes in not only looking to go back-to-back, but they are also looking for the perfect season. Their first road block in the Regional Tournament? Gregory Portland, who is also on a bit of a win streak having not lost since January 8th. Will this follow suit to last year? Both these teams had similar paths last year with Dripping Springs getting the better of the two. Awaiting them? Either a Boerne Champion team that has gone 0-2 against Dripping Springs or a McAllen squad that gave Gregory Portland one of its only losses this season. Of the 6 Regions covered in this article across Boys and Girls this one may be the most exciting.
6A Region 4
Westlake (18-3) vs O'Connor (22-2-2), Friday 1PM////Reagan (21-1-4) vs Brennan (22-2-2), Friday 3PM
After getting past one of their biggest challenges thus far in Taft, O'Connor now finds themselves against another tough opponent in Westlake. However it is the other side of the bracket that is most intriguing here. Brennan is hoping to potentially get some revenge on O'Connor who is one of the two squads to beat them this season. But for that option to even be on the table they will need to get past Reagan. Reagan is on a tear right now having avenged their lone loss of the season. If their is one team I would have my eye on in this one, it's definitely Reagan.
