VYPE ATX 411: Noah Baker

Recently, Noah Baker won the VYPE ATX Public School Preseason DB of the Year Fan Poll. Baker who is dynamic playmaker for the Austin LBJ Jaguars sat down with VYPE to answer a few questions heading into the season.

VYPE: Talk to me about you time at LBJ as you come into your senior year. What has it been like playing for what's been a Austin power over the last few years?

BAKER: My time at LBJ has been good .. I’ve learned a lot from the guys who have made it to collegiate football and also from those who didn’t use their opportunity to their full potential .. LBJ is setup for you to be great if you want that and that’s what we did as a team last year.

VYPE: Now on to you, who do you try and emulate your game off of?

BAKER: Nobody!, I try to be the best version of me I can be but Jalen Ramsey and Jaire Alexander are my favorite DBs to watch and Minkah Fitzpatrick.

VYPE: You made it to the state championship game last season and now you've moved up to 5A into 2022, What are you most looking forward to this season?

BAKER: This season we believe we can make the state championship again… we were one of the two teams to beat a tough Liberty Hill team, so I have no doubt we can make it back to Jerry World.

VYPE: What have you been working on personally this offseason?

BAKER: This off-season I have really been focusing on my first step explosiveness also my footwork and technique as a DB.

VYPE: What are some personal goals for you this season?

BAKER: My first goal this year is to make it back to state and win, my second would be to allow no zero touchdowns and my third be to get 1000 receiving yards.

VYPE: What is your pre-game routine?

BAKER: First would be to turn up in the locker room with my brothers then go get stretched . Then drink three bottles of water with my pregame meal every time. After that I’m locked into the game before it starts.

VYPE: What has been your greatest memory playing for LBJ so far?

BAKER: My greatest memory while playing for LBJ was last year’s semifinal game against Chapel Hill where I caught the game winner to go to state with 7 seconds left.

VYPE: Outside of the game of football, what's one of your favorite things to do off the field?

BAKER: I like to play video games my favorite game out right now is Call of Duty Warzone.. hiking and fishing as well, don’t get to go do those things very often but when I do I love them.

VYPE: Finally, what is one message you want to send to the LBJ community for what they can expect this season?

BAKER: Jag Nation expect our 100% effort and a lot of points… and Jaguars punching other teams in the throat
