Lewisville Farmers Football starts 4-0; looks towards a strong district run

After a rollercoaster start last season ended in a short playoff run, the Lewisville Farmers are looking for a better start to the season and a deeper run into playoffs. With the start to the 2021-22 season, the Farmers are proving that they are doing whatever it takes to pave a path to their destiny.

Led by sophomore quarterback, Ethan Terrell, the Famers have started the season undefeated. Terrell has tallied 679 passing yards with a 59% pass completion rating in four games played. Terrell has seven passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown so far on the season while senior running back Damien Martinez leads the Farmers in rushing with 662 rushing yards on 59 carries for 12 touchdowns. Senior wide receiver Armani Winfield leads the Farmers in receiving with 220 yards and four touchdowns on five catches.

While the offense is certainly holding up their end of the team's strength, the defense is putting in work as well. As a team, Lewisville has totaled 307 tackles, six sacks, one interception, and eight caused fumbles. Senior Billy Sanford leads the team in tackles with 30 total tackles (23 solo and seven assists). Working together to stop the advancements of their opponents' offense, the Farmers defense has held their opponents to a combined 76 points.

The Farmers went defeated in preseason play beating Arlington Bowie (50-7), Fort Worth Timber Creek (53-24), and Arlington Lamar (42-17). Last week, Lewisville opened district play with a 64-28 win over Plano West. With a 4-0 start to the season, the Farmers are averaging 52 points a game and don't look to be slowing down anytime soon.

Next up, Lewisville will take on Plano East (1-3) before continuing on in district play against the likes of Flower Mound, Plano, Coppell, Flower Mound Marcus, and Hebron.
