PREVIEW: West Mesquite heads to Forney for a district matchup

In their first district pairing of the season, the Forney Jackrabbits are set to host West Mesquite. VYPE DFW dives into these two teams and what fans can expect heading into this pairing:

West Mesquite Wranglers (2-1)

After a season-opening 29-7 loss against Dallas Kimball, West Mesquite has been on a mission to make big plays for the rest of the season. week two saw the Wranglers fend off Mesquite Poteet for a 17-14 victory and week three's home opener for West Mesquite saw a 45-6 victory over Fort Worth Chisolm Trail. As the team looks ahead to district play, they are bound and determined to continue this hot streak.

Led by the likes of Demetris Ballard, Kasen McCoy, Naithen Reyes, Elijah Vargas, Alexander Primmer, Jaydon Redmon, Joseph Williams, and more, the Wranglers are fired up and focused on the game ahead.

Forney Jackrabbits (3-0)

On a mission to be the team to beat this season, Forney has already made impressive moves across the board in the 2023-24 Texas High School Football season. Crandall has been the only team to score against them so far this season in a week one Forney victory (64-10). In weeks two and three, Forney shut out both Frisco Memorial (62-0) and Mesquite Poteet (53-0) in order to enter district play on a high note.

Led by Joshua Anuesiem, Aaron Flowers, Kelcion Riggins, Kyle Crawford, Jouett Davenport, Jarrett Anderson, Benji Hart, Ladatrick Robinson Jr., Caden Sanders, Matthew Diosdado, and others, the Jackrabbits are putting Forney on the map this season and making the rest of the DFW area pay attention. This team is ready for anything as they gear up for West Mesquite.

Last season, West Mesquite lost to Forney by a score of 43-14. This year the team will want to set the standard as they enter district play. With the drive to improve on their record, the Wranglers are prepped and ready to put up a fight against the strong Forney team. Forney is bound and determined to continue their undefeated record.
