The Goose Creek CISD got a break on UIL realignment day.
Baytown Sterling, Baytown Lee and Goose Creek-Memorial have been in three different districts the past two seasons.
Sterling was in District 21-6A with the likes of powers North Shore and West Brook, while Lee was in District 12-5A DII with Barbers Hill and Crosby. Goose Creek-Memorial was in District 9-5A DI with New Caney and Porter.
Now they are lined up in District 9-5A, Division I along with Beaumont United, Friendswood, Galveston Ball, La Porte and Port Arthur Memorial.
"The greatest thing is that all three of our schools get to play each other," athletic director Dr. Bernie Mulvaney. "The city of Baytown should be fired up about what the UIL did in realignment."
What will also be back is the Lee vs Sterling game, which will be played Week 11.
"The 51 st rendition of the game will be the last game of the year," Mulvaney said. "It has not been played in three years. The last game drew 16,000 people."
