Episcopal High’s track and field program turned in a commanding performance at the SPC Championships this past weekend, held at the Awty Sports Complex in Houston. Both the boys’ and girls’ teams showcased their dominance, securing team titles in emphatic fashion.
Led by Head Coach Isaiah Coleman, the Episcopal boys’ team claimed their third straight SPC title with a final score of 193.5—more than 50 points ahead of runner-up Kinkaid. The girls’ team was just as impressive, capturing their second consecutive championship with a staggering 226.5 points, outpacing St. John’s by over 80 points.
Among the standout performances, DeVonte “DJ” Taylor II delivered one of the most remarkable individual showings of the meet, striking gold in five individual events: the 100m Dash, 110m Hurdles, 300m Hurdles, Long Jump, and Triple Jump. He also contributed to Episcopal’s victory in the 4x100m Relay.
On the girls’ side, Mary Taylor led the charge with gold medal finishes in the 100m Hurdles, Long Jump, and Triple Jump. She also earned silver in the 300m Hurdles and bronze in the High Jump, highlighting her versatility and consistency.
Additional contributions came from a deep roster of talented athletes including Tennessee Galbreth, Travis Johnson II, Ryder Linebarger, Josh Johnson, and Rodney Thomas II for the boys, and Sophia Cormier, Ariana White, Meg Billipp, Georgia Bass, Kamille Bishop, Ryan Fox, and Emilia Sanchez for the girls.
With such a dominant showing, Episcopal has once again solidified its reputation as a powerhouse in SPC track and field.
Fort Worth Country Day’s boys track & field team etched their names into school history this past weekend by capturing their first-ever SPC championship title.
Under the leadership of Head Coach Jared Connaughton, the Falcons delivered a performance defined by depth, determination, and teamwork at the SPC Championships held at the Awty Sports Complex in Houston.
FWCD finished with a commanding score of 178 points—20 clear of runner-up John Cooper—securing a long-awaited championship for the program.
Central to the Falcons’ success was their outstanding relay unit, which showcased both speed and consistency across multiple events.
Contributors including Canaan Factor, Diego Hatcher, Jordan Jones, Owen Bloemendal, Cal Neubauer, William Runyon, Dario Rosas, Chuy Orozco, and Ty Williams played critical roles in amassing key points through the relays.
Individually, Owen Bloemendal led the charge with a gold medal in the 200m Dash, a silver in the 100m Dash, and a bronze in the Long Jump—demonstrating impressive range and poise across sprint and field events.
Additional key performances came from Diego Hatcher, Cal Neubauer, Nate Blan, Kai Chancellor, and Jackson Bloemendal, whose contributions helped round out a deep and balanced roster.
With this milestone victory, the Falcons not only raised the bar for the program’s future but also signaled their arrival as a new force in SPC track and field.
The Awty International School girls’ track & field team delivered a landmark performance this past weekend, capturing their first-ever SPC Championship—and doing so in commanding fashion on their home track.
Led by Head Coach Ryan Harlan, the Rams dominated the competition, finishing with a team total of 182 points, more than 40 points ahead of second-place Fort Worth Country Day.
From start to finish, the Awty girls showcased exceptional depth and determination. Leading the charge was Liesl Sercu, who turned in a standout performance by claiming gold in both the 400m Dash and High Jump, and adding a silver medal in the 200m Dash.
The success extended to the relay events, where the Rams’ 4x400m team—featuring Sercu, Kari Sparrock, Alexandria Johnson, Indigo Mouton, Aanya Gautam, and Abby Roux—earned the top podium spot. That same core group also secured a bronze medal in the 4x800m relay, adding valuable points to the team’s historic total.
Contributions poured in across the board, with key performances from Romy Bignon, Elle Williams, Leila Sholokhova, Amelia Williams, and Austin Lloyd, helping to solidify Awty’s championship run.
In a season already filled with strong performances, this dominant showing marks a defining moment for the Rams’ program—and sets a high standard for the future.

It came as no surprise that Fort Bend Christian Academy stood out once again in Waco, as both the boys’ and girls’ track & field teams continued their tradition of excellence under the leadership of Coach Deon Minor.
The girls’ squad narrowly missed claiming their fourth consecutive TAPPS-5A championship, finishing as state runner-up with 111 points—just nine behind Midland Christian.
Leading the charge was Texas-signee Bayleigh Minor, who turned in a dominant performance with five gold medals. With those victories, she brought her career total to 16 state titles, tying Taylor Nunez (Randolph HS) as the most decorated female athlete in Texas high school history.
Minor was joined by a deep roster of contributors, including Brooke Perry, Kennesha Nabors, Lilly Coppedge, Naomi Jones, Kristen Shell, and Tanner Tell, all of whom played key roles in the team’s strong finish.
On the boys’ side, FBCA earned a share of the TAPPS 5A state title, tying Midland Christian with 84 points apiece.
Blake Hamilton delivered a standout performance with three gold medals, helping to power the Eagles to the top.
He was backed by stellar efforts from Tucker Ashford, Colton Popovich, Elijah Savage, Charles Molloy, TJ Smith, Sean Jimmy-Ducksworth, and AJ Shell.
At Fort Bend Christian, the standard is the standard—and on Saturday, the Eagles once again rose to meet it.

Under the direction of head coach Nathan Labus, the St. Thomas Eagles delivered a commanding performance at the TAPPS 6A State Meet in Waco, finishing with 165 points—an impressive 61-point margin over second-place Liberty Christian (Argyle).
The Eagles swept all relay events, setting the tone for what turned out to be a dominant day on the track.
Their team success was matched by standout individual performances from Edward Bocock, Logan Branting, David Carbajal, Damarcus Batiste, Derek Stevenson, Blake Coogan, Elijah Henry, Quinn Klenke, and Funbi Osunami.
As has become tradition, St. Thomas once again proved to be a force on the state stage. With a deep and well-coached roster, the Eagles reminded everyone that they are always in the championship conversation—and this year, they left no doubt.
In the TAPPS 6A girls’ competition, there was simply no contest.
St. Agnes Academy dominated the field on Saturday, racking up an incredible 176 points—more than doubling the total of the second-place finisher—to secure a commanding state championship victory.
The Tigers were led by exemplary showings across the board, including first-place finishes in both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays. Their depth and versatility were on full display, as contributions came from nearly every corner of the roster.
Standout athletes included Kaitlyn Elackatt, Michaela Grimes, Kasi Ezike, Rebecca Jarosz, Anna Otero, Emma Kramer, Sophie Bellard, Madison Taylor, Alex Webber, Morgan Lanier, Isabelle Rohrig, Elyse Ridley, and Zara Chinwuba—each playing a vital role in the team’s championship push.
With head coach Chris Warren at the helm, St. Agnes left no doubt about who runs the 6A scene. With a title this dominant, the Tigers will have plenty to celebrate—and even more to build on in the seasons to come.
