THE HIERARCHY: VYPE SATX Volleyball Rankings in second half of District; Davenport, Canyon ascending
08 Oct, 2024
The powers that be continue to excel in the San Antonio-area.
O'Connor is still legit. Harlan is still legit. Pieper appears deadlier than ever and are on the fast-track to their first district title since opening its doors in 2021.
Meanwhile, Davenport is reminding audiences why they were the Class 4A State Champs a year ago, while Comal Canyon continues to pick up speed.
It's going to be interesting to see how SATX shapes up in the coming weeks, so keep an eye on these programs entering the midway point of October.

It was a battle of heavyweights in Class 6A as Atascocita knocked off Summer Creek, 42-39, in a match-up of two of the top three teams.
The Eagles are tough on offense with Cardae Mack and Tory Blaylock dominating the headlines. They are tough to stop.
Bridgeland showed who is boss in their district, knocking off Cypress Springs, while Klein Cain beat Magnolia pushing the Bulldogs out of the rankings.
Moving in are the Paetow Panthers, who face Cinco Ranch this week on the VYPE Thursday Night Showdown.
How about the battle of Montgomery… the Motown Showdown? The Bears rained on Lake Creek’s Homecoming Parade, 46-14, as QB Reggie Williams looked dominant. The Bears (5-0) face Huntsville this weekend in a Class 5A showdown.
There was no change in the private school ranks.
Here are the rankings.

VYPE HOU Updated VB Rankings in second half of District; Stock rising for Bridgeland, Clear Springs
08 Oct, 2024
Bradley C. Collier (VYPE)
What a week it was for H-Town volleyball.
The Bridgeland Bears stepped onto Cy Ranch's home court and claimed a critical victory over their district rival in a five-set thriller, which brings coach Verena Khalil's squad into Top-10.
Grand Oaks flexed on fellow state contender The Woodlands (3-1), which has the Grizzlies within striking distance of a pivotal District 13-6A championship.
Additionally, Clear Springs is emerging as a force to be reckoned with, having begun their district schedule with a 7-0 streak.
In Class 5A, Barbers Hill extended their perfect start within District 19-5A while Friendswood continues to dominate.
Lutheran South Academy secured consecutive sweeps against FBCA and Second Baptist, further solidifying their status as the best private school program the city has to offer, with St. John's School picking up speed.
All that said, check out how Houston's elite are shaping up during the back half of district-play.
