In the hot and humid air of a mid-April Austin evening, fans of both the LASA Raptors and Northeast Raiders gathered to support their teams and watch these two baseball clubs play the game they love.
In the top of the first inning, the Raiders were able to get the ball rolling and score a run. In the bottom of the first, the Raptors were able to open up a lead, scoring a few runs before the Raiders could get the final out. In the top of the second, LASA would find a way to hold Northeast to no runs behind three strikeouts from their pitcher. In the bottom of the second, the Raptors would continue to hit well and finish that inning with over 10 total runs. The game went on for three more innings until, at the score of 19-3, the mercy rule was enacted in the bottom of the fifth giving LASA the victory.
Overall, LASA finished the game with double-digit stolen bases and walks. The Raptors were able to hold Northeast at bay using just one pitcher for the entire game while striking out nearly 10 batters. Northeast was able to get a few solid hits, as well as display some good batting skills, forcing multiple walks throughout the game.
As everyone prepared to leave, the two clubs waved their hats in the other team's direction as a sign of appreciation for the game they had just played, and out of respect for one another. So as the evening turned to night, both teams left the field, leaving behind a game to remember.
