Westlake is at it again.
The undefeated Lady Chaparrals (32-0) once again crushed two ranked, 20-win district foes to maintain their comfortable lead in this week’s Austin area Girls Power Rankings.
It’s a madhouse behind them, however. Glenn avenged and earlier loss to Liberty Hill to move up to #2 for now, but that battle might be decided in the playoffs. With Vandegrift remaining at #4, Round Rock stepped over Westlake’s most recent victims and moved into the Top 5.
#6 Lake Travis will take its second shot at Westlake on Tuesday night (2/3) which will determine whether or not they can remain above Bowie, Austin High and/or Dripping Springs.
Cedar Park notched two impressive wins to close out the Top 10 while Vista Ridge reappeared in this week’s rankings.
Here’s where the Girls stand heading into the final full week of the regular season.

The warming temperatures may have thawed out the Texas Tundra, but the Boys Power Rankings remain nearly frozen in place heading into February.
The Top 7 teams stayed right where they were as they all nearly swept the week. The only exception was #4 Bowie’s 3-point loss to #2 Westlake; hardly enough to justify a drop in the rankings. Just behind the top 7, Glenn and Cedar Park flip-flopped; the Grizzlies blasted Lehman and defeated a solid Liberty Hill squad by a comfortable margin while the Timberwolves stubbed their toes against arch-rival Leander before bouncing back with a solid win over Rouse.
The only other change came at the bottom of the rankings, with New Tech moving up a spot and Austin High making their debut. The entire bottom third, however, is about as solid as slush on a 6-degree day with 4A LBJ – who’s already defeated New Tech -- and 5A Hays lurking in case the 6A Maroons’ strength-of-schedule argument collapses in the next two week.
