The first week of the Texas high school football season is in full swing.
After a flurry of games on Thursday night, Friday was the big night with games going on all over the city of Houston. Lightening caused some delays at games, especially in the Cypress area but eventually the night rolled on.
Here are some notable scores from around the city.
Atascocita 69, Katy Taylor 7 - Atascocita faces off against Katy, which beat North Shore 24-21 on Thursday, next week at Turner Stadium. The Eagles have never beaten the Tigers.
Dickinson 51, George Ranch 14 - The Gators start the season off well. Dickinson was knocked out in the second round last year by North Shore.
MacArthur 20, Klein Forest 7 - This is a great start for MacArthur for the 2019 season. The Generals are coming off a year where they won just one game. Now, to start 2019, MacArthur is 1-0.
FB Travis 35, Hightower 34 - What a finish to this one. In the end one point seemed to be enough. Travis is expected to contend with Ridge Point, who faces North Shore next week, for the District 20-6A Crown.
C.E. King 15, Porter 0 - This is a bit of a shocker. Porter has a lot of offensive pieces back this year and so for that group to be shutout is interesting. Nice win for the Panthers.
New Caney 28, Crosby 6 - The Eagles started their quest for yet another district title, 10-win campaign started well on Friday. New Caney is expected to once again content for the title.
Klein Oak 17, Langham Creek 0 - Big night for the Panthers pitching a shutout on the defensive side of the ball.
Second Baptist School 41, Boerne School of Geneva, 6 - This was a big test for Second Baptist School and Josh Johnson was critical when it comes to his play.
Katy 24, North Shore 21 - An impressive gameplan of keep away kept the Tigers close. The defense doing its job and not allowing more than an inch here or there was key for Katy. The run game was solid too with Ron Hoff's 200-plus yard afternoon.
