Julian Caldwell had 10 catches for 205 yards and a touchdown for Argyle in a Week 10 win.
The regular season has one week left after Week 10 games wrapped up this past weekend. There were more than a few games that made you go ‘wow’ and a few others probably had you double-checking the scores. Here are some things that stood out in the penultimate week of play.
In a low-scoring game, Wylie East handed Sachse its first loss of the season, 21-16, on Thursday.
The win gives the Raiders the District 9-6A title, going into the finale against a 4-5 Garland Lakeview Centennial on Thursday. The Raiders have won 6 in a row. Victor Ekpo scored 2 rushing touchdowns and Victor Young connected with Amir Porter for the other touchdown.
It was the second year in a row the Raiders had won the district title.
On Thursday, Argyle learned Hayes Hackney would be eligible to play again — a week after a decision sidelined him for the rest of the year. The transfer from Prosper Walnut Grove was 17-for-24 passing for 305 yards and 4 TDs in the air. He also ran for another score. The Eagles had little trouble in the 66-7 win over Nevada Community and locked up the District 3-5A Division II title.
Texas Tech pledge Julian Caldwell stood out again. He had 10 catches for 205 yards and 1 touchdown. He now has 67 catches for 1,244 yards and 19 touchdowns. It was the third game this year he had more than 200 yards or more receiving and his 10 catches tied a season-high.
Argyle was No. 3 in the state poll last week and with its QB1 back, the Eagles could be hard to stop this postseason.
The Anna and Celina game, on paper, had the makings of a good game.
It was and then some, with No. 6-ranked Anna securing a 35-28 win in overtime.
Juelz Carter ran for 289 yards and 3 TDs — including one in overtime to give the Coyotes (9-0, 7-0 District 4-5A Division II) the lead. The defense then made a stop and handed Celina a second loss this season. Celina, at 5-2 in district, will make the playoffs.
Anna put up 566 yards of total offense in the win — 342 of them on the ground. Another takeaway is how good the Coyotes’ defense was — holding Celina to 44 yards.
Melissa’s Jeremiah “Bear” Tabor set a new school record for rushing touchdowns in a season in a 49-27 win over McKinney North.
The Cardinals were up 21-20 at halftime and then pulled away with a pair of touchdown runs from Tabor and then an 80-yard Pick-6 from D’Monye Washington.
In the first year in 5A Division, Melissa will be in the playoffs, likely as the No. 2 seed, assuming they have no trouble with winless Frisco Liberty this week.
The Cardinals have won 5 in a row since a 5-point loss to district champion Frisco Lone Star.
Keller Central put up a school record in points on Friday and did so in a big way.
The Chargers won 80-49 against Keller — snapping a 5-game losing streak to its fellow Keller ISD school. It was also the most points ever scored by the Chargers ever.
According to MaxPreps stats, dating back to 2004, the most points the Chargers had previously had been 55 — set against Grand Prairie in 2025 and then tied last year against Carrollton Creekview.
But 80 points- that’s impressive.
Isaiah Taylor threw for 6 touchdowns and 410 yards, while his brother, Jeremiah, had 11 catches for 196 yards.
Going into the final week of the season, the Chargers will play last-place Justin Northwest. Keller Central is tied for 2nd with Haslet V.R. Eaton, but Eaton won the head-to-head matchup.
Fort Worth O.D. Wyatt quarterback Kentrell Steward carries the ball against Fort Worth Arlington Heights during a game on Oct. 30 at Farrington Field.
FORT WORTH — Arlington Heights and O.D. Wyatt battled for the right to be in the driver’s seat for a district title.
Both entered with undefeated records, but the Yellowjackets got three touchdowns from Carson James to secure a 27-22 win over O.D. Wyatt on Friday night at Farrington Field.
It was another close game between the Fort Worth ISD schools, but Arlington Heights is now 18-3 since 2004 in the series.
They move to 9-0 overall and 6-0 in District 4-5A Division and will face another test from Fort Worth Brewer this week. Brewer, 7-2 and 5-1, is standing in the way of a perfect regular season.
Wyatt fell to 8-1 and 5-1 with the loss. The Chaparrals faced a winless Fort Worth Polytechnic this week to wrap up the regular season and will be in the playoffs as either the 2 or 3 seed, depending on the outcome of the other game. Wyatt has beaten Brewer earlier this year, so they have the tiebreaker there.
Wyatt nearly rallied for the win, down 27-16, with less than 2 minutes to go.
Quarterback Steward kept the Chaparrals in the game with a 31-yard pass to Sirr Legend Bell. Then, connected with McTobia Pilot for an 8-yard touchdown with 47 seconds left.
Wyatt pulled within 27-22 and then recovered the onside kick at the 45-yard line.
Steward completed a pass and the Chaps had the ball at the 12-yard line with 30 seconds left. Arlington Heights called a timeout with 12 seconds left, though some after the game questioned if the Yellowjackets still had a timeout or if they were granted a fourth timeout.
When play resumed, the clock was rolling and Steward rolled to his right and ultimately ran out of bounds with the clock hitting zero. A flag on the play was thrown and after a discussion, a holding call was declined.
That set up a celebration for the Yellowjackets.
James ran 32 times for 223 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also ran in conversions after 3 touchdowns. After the game, he and his twin brother, defensive lineman Carson James, were honored on senior night.
“We're doing good. I feel like we're on a roll and we're going to go back in the lab, work on things we messed up on, put in new things and be ready for Brewer,” said Carson James.
The game was a low-scoring contest early, with Arlington Heights up 11-7 at halftime and then 11-10 after three quarters.
