2025-26 Barbers Hill Girls Basketball
No. 6 — BARBERS HILL EAGLES
Barbers Hill was among the few remaining teams standing in Class 5A-Division II last season, finishing with a 32-8 record and a trip to the State Semifinals.
Now, under seventh-year head coach Bryan Harris — who boasts 682 career victories, including 184 at Barbers Hill — the program is equipped to pick up right where it left off.
Four starters return, led by TABC All-Region selections Brooklyn Roberson and Jayci Lackey, both juniors who spearheaded the Eagles’ scoring last season. Roberson averaged 12.5 points per game, while Lackey added 12 points and seven rebounds per contest.
Supporting the duo are senior Autumn LeCompte (10.5 ppg, 6 rpg), junior Kaelyn Blanchard (6 ppg, 5 rpg), and senior MacKenzie Thornhill (5 ppg, 4 rpg). LeCompte earned first-team, all-district honors, while Blanchard was a second-team selection, giving the Eagles plenty of familiarity across the floor.
Success this season will hinge on defensive intensity, team cohesion, discipline, and athleticism — all hallmarks of Harris’ program. Wielding a renewed focus, the Eagles have a clear goal in mind.
Their motto for 2026 says it all: “Chasing Greatness.”

PRE-ORDER THE MAG
Wheatley is coming off yet another impressive endeavor, concluding the year 23-3 and advancing two rounds deep into the postseason.
David Burrell steps into Year No. 6 as head coach, focused on keeping the program on a championship trajectory.
The Wildcats bring back the majority of their core lineup, led by District 20-4A MVP Jamie Solomon (Sr. G), who averaged 24 points per game, along with three assists, three rebounds, and four steals. Solomon also reached the 1,000 career point milestone last season, solidifying her status as one of Wheatley’s all-time scorers.
Joining her is Caria Thomas (Jr. PG), last year’s District Newcomer of the Year and first-team, all-district selection, who posted an equally notable statline (17 ppg, 6 rpg, 6 apg, 6 spg). Key contributors also include first-teamer Symone Johnson (Jr. G) and honorable mention Aniya Simmons (Sr. PF).
For Wheatley, success this season will be measured not just in victories, but in the development of its young leaders, the cohesion of its lineup, and the ability to rise to challenges together.
Dawson Sr. OH Avery Koonsen (SFA-signee) daps up younger sister Alexa Koonsen (Fr. S) in between sets vs. Byron Nelson (11-22-25)
Something made crystal clear this fall was the sheer abundance of talent powering Houston’s most electrifying programs — compelling us to dish out some well-earned recognition.
The city’s heavy-hitters — Dawson, Cy Ranch, Grand Oaks, Tompkins, Stratford, Friendswood, Seven Lakes, Fulshear, and Ridge Point — delivered as expected, and then some. Yet 2025 also brought its share of welcome surprises, with Tomball, Cy Woods, Clear Lake, Montgomery, and Manvel ascending to new heights and positioning themselves as budding contenders.
With that said, it’s officially time to sing some praises.
