Friday Night Lights Preview: Fort Bend Marshall at Houston Sterling presented by T-Mobile
Fort Bend Marshall nearly came all the way back to keep its perfect season alive last week. In the end, Manvel pulled off the 38-34 upset. The loss snapped a 17-game regular season winning streak, dating back to 2017 for the Buffs.
The Buffs (3-1) will attempt to get back on track against Houston Sterling (2-2) this week. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. on Saturday.
Fort Bend Marshall owns the third-best offensive unit (378 yards per game), while their defensive unit ranks best in the district (168.5 yards per game). Sterling hosts the fifth-best offense (254.3 yards per game) and defense (295.8 yards per game) in the district.
This game will pit two of the better running backs in the district against each other – Devon Achane (FB Marshall) and Frank Brown Jr. (Sterling). This duo makes must-watch football.

Sterling – Frank Brown Jr. (RB) – This back, who's Top 5 schools are narrowed down to Nebraska, Houston, Utah, Arkansas and Arizona, is a force. Brown has carried the ball 22 times for 300 yards and seven scores this season. Brown is averaging 13.64 yards per carry. He will be a gamechanger in this contest. Brown also has 11 receptions for 295 yards (26.82 yards per catch) and two scores.
FB Marshall – Devon Achane (RB) is a video game. Literally, is all over the field and utilized in multiple areas. At one point of the game against Manvel last week, Achane ran the ball eight-straight plays over three drives, including touching the ball 10 of the 12 running plays. Achane has rushed 61 times for 511 yards (8.38 yards per carry) and six touchdowns. Achane also has 14 receptions for 239 yards (17.07 yards per catch) and three touchdowns. Achane is the one who stirs the drink of the FB Marshall offense. Expect him to be the X-factor.
