Michael Brockers is a VYPE legend.
The HISD Chavez High School star worked his way from Houston's inner city to the Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams.
The 12-year NFL vet was a cover boy VYPE's first-ever football preview nearly two decades ago, and talks about his football journey.
He starred at LSU and was a first-round draft pick. Before he knew it, he was a father of four and had retired at the age of 32.
It was a wild ride and he talks about it with VYPE co-founder Matt Malatesta.
They also talk the current state of high school football, NIL, the portal and much more.
CHECK OUT "ON MY WHISTLE" with Michael Brockers.
You’ve gotta start somewhere.
High school basketball polls the week after Thanksgiving are about as useful as a turkey leg left out on the counter overnight, but what the heck? We’ll take a stab at it and adjust accordingly once the reality of playing more than a dozen or so games kicks in.
All disclaimers aside, Westwood looks to be pretty solid, debuting at #1 after a 12-0 start including back-to-back blow-out district wins. The Warriors barely edge out #2 Stony Point (8 -2) for the top spot after the Tigers bombed a decent Vandegrift squad and fought off Vista Ridge. Round Rock (9-2) rounds out the District 25-6A podium sweep. Keep an eye on those three duking it out in district play.
St. Michael’s (10-2) caught our eye with an impressive road win at Stony Point. We’ll keep an eye on the TAPPS powerhouse as they face several other decent UIL schools throughout December before beginning district play. Westlake serves as District 26-6A’s sole representative at #5, leading a parade of throw-a-blanket-over-them 5A clubs from #6-9 with 4A Lago Vista cracking our initial poll.
We’ll likely expand the poll to 15 schools heading into 2025 as things come further into focus. But for now, it’s a start.
